Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to the employees in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards from a falling tree which struck surrounding utility lines during manual tree felling operations: (a) Carver Fork Road Residence: Employees were manually felling an oak tree stub measuring 38 feet 7 inches. The employer did not ensure that the oak tree stub was cut down to a sufficient height to prevent contact with surrounding objects, such as overhead utility lines, as determined on August 1, 2014. Abatement Documentation and Certification Required for this Item.
