29 CFR 1910.178(g)(11): Precautions were not taken to prevent open flames, sparks, or electric arcs in battery charging area(s): On or about 8/5/14 in the warehouse and battery charging area: Where employees used the battery charger to charge the batteries on the powered industrial trucks were exposed to an electrical arc from the electrical wiring not protected from the sharp edge of the metal opening on the frame of the battery charger. The employer failed to remove the battery charger from service until the repairs could be made.

The employer failed to remove the powered industrial truck from service until the repairs could be made.
