29 CFR 1910.1030(c)(1)(i): The employer having employee(s) with occupational exposure did not establish a written Exposure Control Plan designed to eliminate or minimize employee exposure: a) Throughout the facility - Employees were handling local residents' laundry as well as hospital laundry containing blood and/or other potentially infectious materials where the employees were required to handle/separate human remains from laundry and clothing material. The employer had not established a written Exposure Control Plan designed to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to infectious diseases. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABTEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: Throughout the facility - Employees were using hazardous chemicals, such as, but not limited to, "Charge" (sodium hydroxide - corrosive), "Mildew Preventative" (dichlorobenzene - corrosive), and "Chlorine Bleach" (sodium hypochlorite - corrosive) where the employer had not provided effective information and training on the hazardous chemicals used in their work area, increasing the risk of improperly responding/treating a chemical injury.
