29 CFR 1926.251(b)(4): Employers must not use alloy steel-chain slings with loads in excess of the rated capacities (i.e., working load limits) indicated on the sling by permanently affixed and legible identification markings prescribed by the manufacturer. Jobsite: Employees were allowed to use an alloy steel-chain sling to list a load/MEGA Brace System that was in excess of the rated capacity working load limit of the sling. On August 14, 2014, the steel-chain sling failed during the process of lifting the load, and one of employees was hit by the lifting equipment/come-a-long. The employee sustained serious injuries from the incident.
