29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladder(s) were used for purposes other than the purpose for which they were designed: a) On or about 10/1/14, at the brick column outside and in front of the Locker Room building at the DYouville Athletic Field Complex Construction Site , 602 Fourth St., Buffalo, NY: There was a 32 in. deep excavation around the base of the column. An employee placed an unopened 6 ft. stepladder on the ground outside the excavation, and leaned it against the brick column. The employee then got on the third rung of the ladder and was cleaning the brickwork with a brush and detergent solution, and used a hose to rinse after cleaning. The stepladder was not designed to be used in the unopened position. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
