29 CFR 1926.652(a): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): a) Corner of Ferguson and Armour Drive: Employees were exposed to a cave-in hazard while cutting a pipeline inside an excavation that was approximately 5 feet 4 inches deep, on Sandy Clay Cohesive Type B soil, with 90 degrees straight walls. Observed on 10/9/14. Austin & Bednash Construction Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard in OSHA inspection number 316184001, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 9/19/12, with respect to a workplace located at American Best Value Inn, Rt. 896, Newark, DE. Note: No abatement certification or documentation required.
