29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Sauder Woodworking Co. on or about August 04, 2014 at the site located at 407 Sauder St. Archbold, OH: The employer failed to ensure the incoming nip-points between the conveyor belts and drive pulleys at the end of the ME5659 Interpack Carton Sealer was adequately guarded. Employees performing packaging activities at or near the end of the conveyor were exposed to incoming nip-points between the drive pulley and belt.

29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven -7 feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed: (a) Sauder Woodworking Co. on or about August 04, 2014 at the site located at 407 Sauder St. Archbold, OH: The employer failed to ensure the drive sprocket and belt transmitting power from the motor to the rotating shaft on the shelving line roller conveyor was adequately guarded. Employees performing packaging activities at the end of the conveyor line were exposed to incoming nip-points between the drive sprocket and belt.
