29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee(s) were exposed to an airborne concentration of Total Dust (Particulates Not Otherwise Regulated) listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8 hour Time-Weighted Average concentration of 15 mg/m3:  a.  On or about 10/30/2014 - Conveyed Spray Line, the employee performing electrostatic painting was exposed to an 8-hour time weighted average of 120.00 mg/m3 of Total Dust, approximately 8 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 15 mg/m3.  The employee was sampled for 360 minutes during one shift on 10/30/14.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time of 120 minutes.  b.  On or about 10/30/2014 - Manual Spray Line, the employee performing electrostatic painting was exposed to an 8-hour time weighted average of 43.40 mg/m3 of Total Dust, approximately 2.9 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 15 mg/m3.  The employee was sampled for 425 minutes during one shift on 10/30/14.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time of 55 minutes.

The employee was sampled for 360 minutes during one shift on 10/30/14.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time of 120 minutes.  (b)  On or about 10/30/2014 - Manual Spray Line, the painter was exposed to an 8-hour time weighted average of 43.40 mg/m3 of Total Dust, approximately 2.9 times the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 15 mg/m3.  The employee was sampled for 425 minutes during one shift on 10/30/14.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time of 55 minutes.  General Methods of abatement include but are not limited to: 1. Installation of local exhaust/dust collection along the shakeout line. 2. Modifications of work assignments, such as using rotation to reduce employees' exposure.
