Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards:   Employees working the drilling rig  located at SEC 31, TWP 22, R 16, 1485 fsl, 3135 fel, Le Roy, KS 66857, in the area of the mud pump were exposed to struck by hazards created by the whipping action of high pressure hose in the event of a hose failure. The connection of the mud hose was not protected by safety chains or cables.   AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: TO SECURE THE HOSE ENDS USING CABLES OR CHAINS PROPERLY LOCATED AND OF SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO RESIST HOSE WHIPPING SHOULD IT BECOME DISCONNECTED OR BROKEN AS REFERENCED IN PARAGRAPH 9.13.3 OF API RP 54, RECOMMENDED PRACTICE FOR OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY FOR OIL AND GAS WELL DRILLING AND SERVICING OPERATIONS, 1999 EDITION.   29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
