29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.    On or about December 03, 2014, the employer allowed employees to operate several pieces of equipment without point of operation guards in place:    a. In E-Building, Galaxy Drill Press (Heavy Duty Drill Press #2501) serial# 421211 failed to have guard at point of operation.    b. In E-Building, Jet Drilling & Milling 12 speed Machine Drilling Press #47335 failed to have guard at point of operation.    c. In E-Building, unmarked Steel/Metal Hole Punch failed to have guard at point of operation.      d. In A-Building Carlton Drill press on the East side of building, failed to have guard at point of operation.
