29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or about December 4, 2014, the ROCO Header Stacker Machine (Serial # R18) in the production area was not guarded.

29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Protection from arc welding rays. Where the work permits, the welder should be enclosed in an individual booth painted with a finish of low reflectivity such as zinc oxide (an important factor for absorbing ultraviolet radiations) and lamp black, or shall be enclosed with noncombustible screens similarly painted. Booths and screens shall permit circulation of air at floor level. Workers or other persons adjacent to the welding areas shall be protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields or shall be required to wear appropriate goggles. a. In the welding area, welders were not enclosed in an individual booth, exposing employees to welding rays and potential flash burn. Hanson Pipe & Precast, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314641515, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on September 26, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 223 John Davenport Dr. Rome, GA 30165.
