Garden State Parkway, mile post 91.5 NB, Brick Township, NJ:  While Midlantic Construction LLC employees were conducting repairs to a 1996 Grove, GMK 5160, 175 ton hydraulic boom crane, the employer failed to ensure that the outrigger pressure did not exceed the load-bearing capacity of the ground.  As such, when the operator slewed the superstructure, the crane overturned.  Observed on or about 01/10/2015.       NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.1417(a): The employer did not comply with all manufacturer procedures applicable to the operational functions of equipment, including its use with attachments.   Garden State Parkway, mile post 91.5 NB, Brick Township, NJ:  While Midlantic Construction LLC employees were conducting repairs to a 1996 Grove, GMK 5160, 175 ton hydraulic boom truck crane.  The employer failed to ensure that the manufacturers procedures regarding extension of outriggers were followed.  The crane was set with a front outrigger width of 16.3 feet as opposed to the manufacture's specified 17.7 feet.  As such, when the operator slewed the superstructure, the crane overturned.  Observed on or about 01/10/2015.      NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
