29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact.  a) Red Roof Inn - Washing machines' room - Hotel rooms:  Employees were exposed to chemical burns while changing containers of corrosive chemicals such as: Booster Plus (Sodium Hydroxide Solution - Corrosive), Sour RR (Laundry neutralizer - Corrosive) or use corrosive liquids such as: Heavy duty alkaline bathroom cleaner and disinfectant (corrosive), bleach, etc., to clean bathroom surfaces in the hotel rooms on a daily basis.  Occurred on or about 01/15/2015.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:  a) Red Roof Inn - Washing machines' room - Hotel rooms: The employer had not provided information and training to employees on chemicals they used in the workplace such as but not limited to: Booster Plus (Sodium Hydroxide Solution - Corrosive), SOur RR (Laundry neutralizer - Corrosive), Sure Soft (fabric softener), Fresh Scent (Pests Regulator), Shot Spot (all Purpose Stain Remover), Neutral all purpose cleaner, Strength glass cleaner, Heavy duty alkaline bathroom cleaner and disinfectant, Up N' Away (fabric odor eliminator), Bleach, etc., on or about 01/15/2015

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met:  a) Red Roof Inn - Washing machines' room - Hotel rooms: The employer did not have a written hazard communication program for employees that handled chemicals such as but not limited to: Booster Plus (Sodium Hydroxide Solution - Corrosive), SOur RR (Laundry neutralizer - Corrosive), Sure Soft (fabric softener), Fresh Scent (Pests Regulator), Shot Spot (all Purpose Stain Remover), Neutral all purpose cleaner, Strength glass cleaner, Heavy duty alkaline bathroom cleaner and disinfectant, Up N' Away (fabric odor eliminator), Bleach, etc., on or about 01/15/2015.   The Red Roof Inn was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 951521, citation number 1, item number 3a and was affirmed as a final order on 1/21/2014, with respect to a workplace located at 8210 North IH 35, Austin TX, 78753.
