29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: In the Maintenance shop employees using a 5 speed drill press (Model OR-1412 with 1/2 inch chuck) were exposed to eye and facial injuries. The employees were exposed in that a safety shield was not available to protect the employees from these hazards.
