OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to chemical splash hazards:  On or about January 14, 2015, employees were exposed to a chemical splash hazard when lifting loads with devices that were not inspected. The company was not performing frequent inspections (monthly and annual intervals) of the company's overhead hoists, located in the plating area. Hoists were noted as not having pendants marked with the operational direction. The hoist were located above the hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid tanks. The acids vapors could corrode the hoist chains, hooks, and gears. If the system failed employees would be splashed with acid resulting in chemical burns from the lack of proper ppe.

The gloves would protect against chemical burns from the hydrochloric, nitric, and sulfuric acid.
