29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes:    a. On or about 02/11/15, at the paints section area, at Caribe Home Center/Caribe Do-It Center, St. Croix, VI. The employer did not select, provide and require employees to use appropriate hand protection (disposable gloves) when employees' hands were exposed to hazards when using and/or handling products such as Lanco (vinyl acetate) and Master Acrylic latex (titanium dioxide) paints bases/colors during mixing operation using Harbill 5G-HD and Corob shakers.     NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and maintain at each workplace, a written hazard communication program which at least describes how the criteria specified in paragraphs (f), (g), and (h) of this section for labels and other forms of warning, safety data sheets, and employee information and training will be met:    On or about 02/11/15, at Caribe Home Center/Caribe Do-It Center, St. Croix, VI. The employer did not develop a written hazard communication program to ensure having safety data sheets for hazardous products as follows:    a. At the paints section area. Employees used and/or handled products such as Lanco (vinyl acetate) and Master Acrylic latex (titanium dioxide) paints bases/colors during mixing operation using Harbill 5G-HD and Corob shakers.     b. At the yard area. Employees used and/or handled products such as diesel fuel during Hyster forklift maintenance operations.     NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
