29 CFR 1910.95(g)(8)(ii)(A): Unless a physician determines that the standard threshold shift is not work-related or aggravated by occupational noise exposure, the employer did not ensure, when a standard threshold shift occurs, that employees not using hearing protectors were fitted with hearing protectors, trained in their use and care, and required to use them: a) Short Wall Dept, an employee with a current diagnosed Standard Threshold Shift (STS) was exposed to noise levels above 85 decibels (dBA), while building short walls and components. An extrapolated full shift noise level is approximately 65.7% of the allowable 8-hour time weighted sound level of 90 decibels (dBA). The equivalent dBA level of 65.7% is approximately 87 dBA, and is representative of this employee 's 8-hour time-weighted average. During high intensity nailing, the average dBA was measured at 94 dBA. The employer did not ensure that the affected employee wore hearing protection, on or about March 19, 2015. "ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED"
