29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(b) or (c) of this section: (a) Jobsite, Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA: On or about 04/06/15 an employee was working in an unprotected excavation approximately 6 1/2 feet in depth with vertical side walls and no protective system, sloping or benching was used to protect the employee from a potential cave-in. The employer, A. Merante Contracting, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 505218, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 08/01/12, with respect to a workplace located at Buelah Road, Pittsburgh, PA.
