29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(iii): The employer did not identify and evaluate the respiratory hazard(s) in the workplace; including a reasonable estimate of employee exposures to respiratory hazards and identification of the contaminant's chemical state and physical form: a) On or about April 29, 2015, The Timken Company failed to identify and evaluate the hazard of the silica dust generated during re-bricking operations which evolved from the cutting of bricks containing crystalline silica. Exposure to crystalline silica dust can cause silicosis. b) On or about April 29, 2015, the employer failed to identify and evaluate the hazards of Prowash 727-GTB containing Ethanolamine when employees were exposed during normal operations in the heat treatment area. Ethanolamine can be a central nervous stimulant at low doses, and a central nervous system depressant at lethal doses.
