29 CFR 1918.32(b): The edge of a hatch section, or of stowed cargo, was not guarded by a vertical safety net or other means providing equal fall protection to exposed employees. The employer does not ensure the edge of a hatch section, or of stowed cargo, was guarded by a vertical safety net or other means providing equal fall protection to exposed employees. This violation occurred on or about May 1, 2015, Port of Houston, dock #20, on the Adam Asnyk vessel, where longshoremen were exposed to fall hazards while unloading cargo. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that the edge of a hatch section, or of stowed cargo, is guarded by a vertical safety net or other means providing equal fall protection to exposed employees.
