29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): (a) Facility, Maintenance Shop, 1055 Center Street, McKeesport, PA: On or about 05/04/15 the employer had not assessed the maintenance shop to determine if any hazards may be present or likely to be present, which would require the use of personal protective equipment. An employee was burned on their torso and right arm by hot fluid and steam when servicing a tack coat trailer. Prior to the incident, the employer had not determined what hazards could be present or what personal protective equipment should be used when performing this task.
