29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about May 21, 2015, and at times prior thereto, employees were allowed to operate machines that were found not having guards provided, including but not limited to the following instances: 1) At the Promecam area, a press brake was operated via foot pedal control without machine guards provided at the point of operation and on the sides of the press. 2) In the CNC Department, 7 CNC machines did not have interlock device provided to protect employees from the point-of-operation while in operation. 3) In the fabrication 4 area, a multi-punch press was operated without guards provided to protect employees from the to point-of-operation while in operation. Employees were exposed to caught in and amputation hazards.
