29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals, and they shall be packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve: (Construction Reference 1926.103). Location: Main Street Bridge, Laconia, NH: a. On or about June 5, 2015, employees were vacuuming surfaces under a bridge which contained lead. While this work was being accomplished, an employee was wearing a fullface powered air purifying respirator while vacuuming. The respirator was then removed and placed on the ground near the contaminated area and was not stored in a way that prevented it from being contaminated with lead inside the mask. b. On or about June 5, 2015, employees were sandblasting surfaces under a bridge which contained lead. While sandblasting, an employee was wearing Bullard air-supplied blasting helmet. The helmet was stored in the changing trailer by an employee and was stored in such a way that it became contaminated with lead inside the helmet.
