29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.  (a)  Entire facility: Employees were not provided and required to wear cut resistant and puncture resistant gloves while conducting search operations of inmates and prisoner living areas with their hands where the employees can experience cuts and puncture wounds from potentially blood contaminated hidden sharps, such as razor blades and tattoo needles, as determined on July 15, 2015.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED.

29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(vii)(F): The bloodborne pathogens training program did not contain an explanation of the use or limitations of methods that would prevent or reduce exposure including appropriate engineering controls, work practices or personal protective equipment:  (a) Housing Units:  Employee training did not include telling employees to transport potentially contaminated sharps contraband in the puncture resistant containers provided in the housing units from the point of discovery to the lieutenant's office as determined on July 15, 2015.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED  The U.S. Department of Justice - Federal Bureau of Prisons was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.1030(g)(2)(vii)(F), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 962553, notice number 1, item number 1a and was affirmed as a final order on August 8, 2014 with respect to a workplace located at 101 Federal Drive in Welch, WV.

ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED.   The U.S. Department of Justice- Federal Bureau of Prisons was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 986811, notice number 1, item number 6 and was affirmed as a final order on August 8, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 1640 Sky View Drive in Bruceton Mills, WV.
