29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): (a) Excavation, Village of Belmont located at Symphony Way, Smyrna, GA 30080: Employee was exposed to soil cave-ins while working in a 5-ft. wide x 17-ft. long x 14-ft. deep excavation installing/repairing an 8-inch sewer line without an adequate protective system in place. The benching/sloping that was performed did not meet the requirements for an adequate cave-in protection system for a type "b" soil.
