OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing for likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to severe laceration and amputation hazards while operating table saws:  a. Wood Shop- An employee operating a Delta X5 Unisaw was not protected from a severe laceration and amputation hazard where a blade guard and safe work procedures were not utilized while making dado cuts. An employee was observed making a dado cut without the use of a blade guard, the miter gauge, and a push stick. The employer has three recordable injuries involving severe lacerations and/or finger tip amputations while employees have operated table saws without blade guards when ripping lumber or safe work procedures while making dado cuts.  b. Wood Shop- An employee operating a Delta X5 Unisaw was not protected from a severe laceration and amputation hazard where safe work procedures were not utilized while making narrow ripping cuts. An employee was observed making narrow ripping cuts without the use of a push stick. The employer has three recordable injuries involving severe lacerations and/or finger tip amputations while employees have operated table saws without blade guards when ripping lumber or safe work procedures while making dado cuts.
