Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire hazards: (a) On or about October 20, 2015 for employees performing laboratory procedures using a Goldfisch Fat Extraction Apparatus, where the employer did not require employees to use heater covers, as specified by the manufacturer, at 5525 136th Avenue SE in Enderlin, North Dakota. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the procedures described in the Labconco Goldfisch Fat Extraction Apparatus User's Manual. Specifically, paragraph (12) on page 7 which states "When extraction is completed, place heater covers on heaters to prevent solvent from coming into contact with the hot heater."
