29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Facility: Puncture and cut resistant gloves were not required to be worn by correctional officers conducting pat down searches of inmates, on or about 11/16/15. THE U.S DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE - FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS HAZELTON WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1910.138(a) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 986811, CITATION NUMBEER 1, ITEM NUMBER 5 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 1/21/15, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 1640 SKY VIEW DRIVE, BRUCETON MILLS, WV 26525. THE U.S DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE - FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS MCDOWELL WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1910.138. 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i): Engineering and work practice controls were not used to eliminate or minimize employees exposure: a) Facility: The employer did not institute engineering and safe work practice controls that would eliminate employees exposure to being stuck by contraband sharps, such as tattoo needles and sharpened objects during shake downs of inmates cells, on or about 11/16/15. b) Facility: Puncture resistant containers were not used by employees transporting potentially contaminated contraband sharps, such as tattoo needles to the Lieutenant's office, on or about 11/16/15.
