29 CFR 1910.307(c): Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations were not intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location: On or about January 12, 2016 employees working in the facility were exposed to fire and explosion hazards. The following electrical equipment was used in locations that have the potential for release and were not rated for use in hazardous locations: a) Electrical disconnects, switches and junction boxes used to operate the boiler mounted on the west wall of the wash bay. b) Electrical disconnects and motor controllers to operate the pressure washer mounted on the west wall of the wash bay. c) The two electric air compressors located along the west wall of the maintenance area next to the wash bay. d) The electric motor used to pump motor oil located at the doorway between the wash bay and the maintenance area. e) The extension cord affixed to the wall between the wash bay and maintenance area.
