29 CFR 1910.107(d)(1): Ventilation and exhaust systems were not in accordance with the Standard for Blower and Exhaust Systems for Vapor Removal, NFPA No. 91-1961, incorporated by reference.  Location: Facility   Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards while painting, mixing, and coating flammable chemicals in an area where there was no ventilation and exhaust system in place.  The 24-inch fan located in the back of the facility is not adequate to remove vapors and protect employees from fire and  explosion hazards.     Abatement Note:  Appropriate ventilation and exhaust system must be in compliance with NFPA no. 91-1961.

29 CFR 1910.107(g)(3): Approved metal waste cans were not provided wherever rags or waste were impregnated with finishing material; and all such rags or waste were not deposited therein immediately after use. The contents of waste cans were not properly disposed of at least once daily or at the end of each shift.  Location: Facility   Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards from the placement of used rags impregnated with flammable organic solvents in open paint cans, allowing the organic vapors to accumulate in the atmosphere.
