29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. Located in the Specialty Department at 6086 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio: On or about March 1, 2016 and at times prior, the saw operator and employees walking and working directly behind the ingoing side of the DIEHL straightline rip saw, Model SL52, Serial 66-M1642-910, were exposed to flying wood slivers. b. Located in the Specialty Department at 6086 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio: On or about March 1, 2016 and at times prior, the saw operator and employees walking and working directly behind the ingoing side of the DIEHL straightline rip saw, Model SL60, Serial 2001M-6693-6109, were exposed to flying wood slivers. c. Located in the Specialty Department at 6086 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio: On or about March 1, 2016 and at times prior, the saw operator and employees walking and working directly behind the ingoing side of the DIEHL straightline rip saw, Model SL50RBD, Serial 65M-1386-665-R2000, were exposed to flying wood slivers.

29 CFR 1910.213(n)(3): Feed rolls shall be guarded by a hood or suitable guard to prevent the hands of the operator from coming in contact with the in-running rolls at any point. The guard shall be fastened to the frame carrying the rolls so as to remain in adjustment for any thickness of stock. a. Located in the Specialty Department at 6086 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio: On or about March 1, 2016 and at times prior, the approximately three quarter inch gap between the feed chain and the saw table at the outgoing side of the DIEHL straightline rip saw, Model SL60, Serial 2001M-6693-6109, exposed employees to a nip point hazard. b. Located in the Specialty Department at 6086 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio: On or about March 1, 2016 and at times prior, the approximately one inch gap between the feed chain and the saw table at the outgoing side of the DIEHL straightline rip saw, Model SL50RBD, Serial 65M-1386-665-R2000, exposed employees to a nip point hazard.
