29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a. Materion Brush, Inc. located in Elmore, Ohio: On or about March 3, 2016, the employer did not ensure the coiler on the edge trim line was properly guarded exposing employees to an in-going nip point created between the rotating coil and the metal strip. b. Materion Brush, Inc. located in Elmore, Ohio: On or about March 3, 2016, the employer did not ensure the coil transfer car on the edge trim line was properly guarded exposing employees to crushing hazards between the coil transfer car and the mandrel containing the metal coil. c. Materion Brush, Inc. located in Elmore, Ohio: On or about March 3, 2016, the employer did not ensure the coiler on the edge trim line was properly guarded exposing employees to struck by hazards from the coiled metal.
