29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Federal Correctional Center Coleman - Puncture and cut resistant gloves were not required to be worn by correctional officers conducting cell searches, pat-downs and when packing personal property, in that, there was a limited amount of gloves and the usage was not enforced for all employees required to conduct these tasks. Violation observed on or about April 28, 2016. The U.S. Department of Justice- Federal Bureau of Prisons was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.138(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1074533, notice number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 12/14/15, with respect to a workplace located at FCC Coleman, 846 NE 54th Terrace, Coleman, FL. The U.S. Department of Justice- Federal Bureau of Prisons was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.138(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 991369, notice number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/22/14, with respect to a workplace located at FCI Aliceville, 11070 Highway 14, Aliceville, AL.
