29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(xv): Crossbracing used in place of a midrail was unacceptable because the crossing point of two braces is between 20 inches (0.5 m) and 30 inches ((0.8 M) above the work platform or as a toprail when the crossing point of two braces is not between 20 inches (0.5 m) and 30 inches (0.8 m) above the work platform or as a toprail when the crossing point of two braces is between 38 inches (0.97 m) and 48 inches (1.3 m) above the work platform. The endpoints at each upright were more than 48 inches (1.3 m) apart. a) Diamond Design Construction, Inc. / 8033 Oliver Road, Erie, PA: On or about May 26, 2016 employees were working from scaffolding approximately 26 feet from ground level. The scaffolding did not have a mid-rail. The cross brace acted as a top rail.
