29 CFR 1926.55(a): Employee(s) were exposed to material(s) at concentrations above those specified in the Threshold Limit Values of Airborne Contaminants for 1970 of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists:      a) A sandblaster was sandblasting the interior of a water tank using silica sand which contained 24% crystalline quartz resulting in an 8-hour time weighted average of 573.1 mppcf (millions of particles per cubic foot).  The permissible exposure limit for silica with 24% crystalline quartz is 8.6 mppcf.  Sampling was conducted for 302 minutes during one work shift on 6-14-16; exposure calculations included a zero increment for the 178 minutes not sampled.       b) A sandblaster helper was assisting with sandblasting the interior of a water tank using silica sand which contained 23% crystalline quartz resulting in an 8-hour time weighted average of 305.9 mppcf (millions of particles per cubic foot).  The permissible exposure limit for silica with 23% crystalline quartz is 8.9 mppcf.  Sampling was conducted for 88 minutes during one work shift on 6-14-16; exposure calculations included a zero increment for the 392 minutes not sampled.
