29 CFR 1910.176(b): Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse. ACL/East Dock/Bay Staging Area: On June 14, 2016 and at times the thereto, cardboard loading postal packs, an OTR container, and empty boxes were stacked over six feet and were found loaded greater than three-quarter (¾ ) capacity. Loading dollies were found stacked higher than the fourth bar. The employer did not ensure that containers were not stacked too high with boxes and mail bags and were not moved prior to the stack being reduced to a safe level. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.176 (b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 952259, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on September 25, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at U.S. Postal Service -SF International Service Center 660 Westfield Road, San Francisco, CA 94128. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.176 (b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1094198, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on November 19, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at U.S. Postal Service - SF International Service Center 660 Westfield Road, San Francisco, CA 94128.
