29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Eye and face protective equipment were not used when machines or operations presented potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents: a. Employees operating pneumatic nail guns to perform re-roofing work without the use of eye protection are exposed to being struck by flying debris or nails. The employer fails to assure effective protection against eye and face injuries as required by the standard, as demonstrated on August 2, 2016, when employees were working on a residential roof at 10768 Brown Trout Circle, Orlando, Florida 32825 without eye protection while using pneumatic nail guns and were exposed to eye injuries from flying debris or nails. Jasper Contractors, Inc. previously committed a willful violation of this standard on November 23, 2015, with respect to a workplace at 11895 Swooping Willow Road, Jacksonville, Florida which became a final order on April 21, 2016 (Inspection No. 1107776). Employees performing re-roofing work from a 7:12 pitch roof are not being protected from 8 feet 3 inches fall hazards by a fall protection system.\: The employer routinely fails to assure effective protection against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on August 2, 2016, when employees were installing shingles on the roof of a one-story residence at 10768 Brown Trout Circle, Orlando, Florida 32825 without fall protection and were exposed to fall hazard of 8 feet 3 inches above the surrounding ground.
