The storage, transfer, and handling of liquid shall comply with paragraph (h)(4) of this section. 29 CFR 1910.106(h)(4)(iv)(a): Equipment shall be designed and arranged to prevent the unintentional escape of liquids and vapors and to minimize the quantity escaping in the event of accidental release. a) The Coating Pump used to fill coating containers did not use a self-closing valve or other device to minimize the quantity of coating material being released during pumping equipment failure or operator inattentiveness.

29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): The employer shall not permit respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who have: Facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function. a) On August 24, 2016, a Liquid Department employee required to wear a half mask cartridge respirator was not clean shaven.
