OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards should the Weaver two post hydraulic lift or its components fail.    a.  Within the maintenance shop, on or about 8/30/16:  A Weaver two post hydraulic lift was being operated which had leaking hydraulic seals.  The lift had not been tagged or removed from service.    b.  Within the maintenance shop, on or about 8/30/16:  A Weaver two post hydraulic lift was being operated without having its rated load capacity posted.    c.  Within the maintenance shop, on or about 8/30/16:  A Weaver two post hydraulic lift was being operated without operators having access to the operating procedures, safety tips and generic safety material.    Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards are to:    Ensure all automotive lifts are operated in accordance with the Automotive Lift Institute, Inc., standard for automotive lifts, paragraph 4.5 which states in part; If any of the conditions listed above are observed before, during or after operation of the lift, the operator shall stop using the lift and report the condition to the supervisor.  If any of the conditions listed in 4.4.4 (4) through (10) are observed, then the lift shall not be used until the cause of the problem has been determined and the appropriate repairs have been made by qualified automotive lift service personnel.     Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
