29 CFR 1926.757(b)(3): Except as provided in paragraph (b)(4) of this section, each steel joist was not attached to the support structure, at least at one end on both sides of the seat, immediately upon placement in the final erection position and before additional joists are placed. (a) New addition, northwest classroom: On or prior to 9/7/16, four 18K6 open web steel joists were not secured immediately on placement in final erection position and before additional joist(s) were placed. On the morning of 9/7/16, employees of Merit Plumbing and Heating LLC were exposed to struck-by hazards when a JLG telehandler operated by JDR masonry struck a W16x31 steel lentil, dislodging the lentil and causing two of the four unsecured joists to fall.
