29 CFR 1926.451(c)(2)(i): Footings shall be level, sound, rigid, and capable of supporting the loaded scaffold without settling or displacement. a. At the site located at 1059 Tree Line Way, Delaware, Ohio, an employee was installing siding on the North side of a two story residential home from a pump jack scaffold that had footings that were not level or sound, thereby exposing the employee to a fall hazard of approximately 10 feet.

29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers. a. At the site located at 1059 Tree Line Way, Delaware, Ohio, an employee was installing siding on the West side of a two story residential home from a pump jack scaffold without the use of fall protection, thereby exposing the employee to a fall hazard of approximately 14 feet.

Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a. At the site located at 1059 Tree Line Way, Delaware, Ohio, employees were performing siding work on the North side of a two story home from the lower level roof with a pitch of approximately 8 in 12 and approximately 9 feet in height with no fall protection, thereby exposing employees to a fall hazard.
