29 CFR 1926.600(a)(3)(ii): Equipment parked on an incline did not have the wheels chocked and the parking brake set: The employer is failing to protect workers from a struck by hazard when parking vehicles on an incline without applying wheel chocks. This was most recently documented at the Interstate 44 entrance ramp at 7th street in St. Louis Missouri, where an employee parked a truck on an incline and did not apply wheel chocks to prevent the truck from rolling down the incline and striking him. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

29 CFR 1926.601(b)(14): All vehicles in use were not checked at the beginning of each shift to assure that the following parts, equipment, and accessories were in safe operating condition and free of apparent damage which could cause failure while in use: service brakes, including trailer brake connections; parking system (hand brake); emergency stopping system (brakes); tires; horn; steering mechanism; coupling devices; seat belts; operating controls; and safety devices. The employer is failing to protect employees from vehicle safety hazards when they operate company vehicles at construction sites. This was most recently documented at the Interstate 44 entrance ramp at 7th street in St. Louis, Missouri, where pickup trucks were not inspected at the beginning of each shift to assure they were in safe operating condition. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
