29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury.    On or about September 23, 2016, an employee was exposed to electrical shock when the boom from the concrete pump he was operating came in contact with energized electrical lines. The employer failed to ensure the employee was adequately instructed in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury.    Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1926.600(a)(6)(i): All equipment covered by this subpart shall comply with the following requirement when working or being moved in the vicinity of power lines or energized transmitters, except where electrical distribution and transmission lines have been deenergized and visibly grounded at point of work or where insulating barriers, not a part of or an attachment to the equipment or machinery, have been erected to prevent physical contact with the lines:    (i) For lines rated 50 kV or below, minimum clearance between the lines and any part of the crane or load shall be 10 feet.    On or about September 23, 2016, an employee was exposed to electrical shock when the boom from the concrete pump he was operating came in contact with energized electrical lines rated 50kV or below. The employer failed to ensure the employee was protected against electric shock by deenergizing/grounding the circuit, or guarding it effectively with insulation barriers, or by maintaining a distance of at least 10 feet.    Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
