29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:    On or about January 11, 2017, and times prior to,    (a)  In the Foundry area, on the MBD band saw located between Cell 1 & 2, Cell 2 & 3 and between Coil Storage and Cell 1, the exposed portion of the cutting blade above the roller guide and lower blade guard were not covered.  Employees were exposed to contact with the cutting blade.    (b)  In the Foundry area, employees using the MBD band saws to remove excess aluminium from large formed parts were not protected from inadvertent contact with the cutting blade.    (c)  In the Machine Shop, the key switch control to the Okuma CNC lathe, Model L-1420, s/n 0708 004, was defective and prevented employees from being able to engage the door safety interlocks.  Employees operating the lathe were exposed to struck-by and caught-in hazards.    (d)  In the Machine Shop, employees operated the Mori Seiki CNC lathe, Model SL-300 AMC, s/n 263, without the door safety interlocks engaged.  This practice exposed employees to struck-by and caught-in hazards.
