29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees working in areas where there is a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmets.    On or about February 8, 2017, employees performing residential siding installation were exposed to struck by hazards while employees handed material and tools to the second level from the ground level when the employer failed to mandate the use of hard hats.      Abatement certification or documentation is not required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation.    On or about February 8, 2017, employees performing residential siding installation were exposed to struck by hazards while employees utilized a pneumatic nail gun to fasten material when the employer failed to mandate the use of eye protection.      Abatement certification or documentation is not required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): "Residential construction." Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure.     On or about February 8, 2017, employees performing siding installation at a residential property were exposed to fall hazards of 12.3' while working from the second level with no fall protection when the employer failed to ensure fall protection was utilized.    The employer name was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 987924, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 16, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 25224 Parkside Drive, Plainfield, Illinois 60544.    The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 719138, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on June 28, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 4528 Corktree, Naperville, Illinois 60564.    Abatement certification and documentation are not required for this item.
