29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by ingoing nip points and rotating parts:   a) Conveyor: An employee was exposed to an amputation hazard from the unguarded rollers on a separator machine. On 2/08/2017, an employee sustained a fracture to his left arm while operating an unguarded Magnetic Separator machine.

29 CFR 1910.243(b)(2): Air hose and hose connections used for conducting compressed air to utilization equipment was not designed for the pressure and service to which they were subjected.   a) Eddy Magnetic Separator machine: The air hose used to clean off equipment was attached to a hose fitting which was secured by a worm-driven hose clamp which was not designed for use on an air hose, thereby exposing the employees to the whipping action of the hose if the clamp were to come off, on or about 2/23/2017.

The Park Stein, Inc dba Parkway Iron & Metal Corp was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(6)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314681529, citation number 1, item number 6 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/19/2012, with respect to a workplace located at613-639 Route 46 East, Clifton, NJ 07015.
