29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about February 21, 2017, machine guard(s) such as but not limited to barrier guards were not provided or installed by the employer. No preventive measures were taken to avert the press operators from having any part of their body in the danger zone during the operation of the job-made press operating with a 2000 psi compressor. The absence of machine guards exposed employees to struck-by hazards.
