29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. Site- Employees operating a drum pump in the weigh tank charging area of the fifth floor are not protected from an amputation hazard where the drum pump is maneuvered by hand while running with the point of operation exposed. On or about February 16, 2017 an employee charging a weigh tank with Pripol via a drum pump sustained an injury to their hand when they contacted the point of operation on the drum pump while it was running and not submerged in a drum.
