Service chase for wastewater treatment. On or about March 18, 2017, the employer did not select and have employees use adequate personal protective equipment to protect from contact with sodium hydroxide used in the wastewater treatment process, which resulted in severe injury to an employee. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1904.19(d)

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) 20 Sylvan Road, Woburn, MA 01801. Service chase for wastewater treatment. On or about March 18, 2017, the employer did not ensure that drenching facilities were available for immediate emergency use. An employee splashed with sodium hydroxide was required to travel down two hallways to access an emergency shower to flush the sodium hydroxide that had been splashed over the head and upper body. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1904.19(d)
