The employer did not assess the workplace to determine the hazards associated with the handling of sodium hydroxide. Employees were not provided with the appropriate personal protective equipment and were exposed to chemical burns from the sodium hydroxide. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
